Nasr Ghoniem selected as a 2014 Materials Research Society Fellow
February 6, 2014
UCLA MAE Professor Nasr Ghoniem was selected as a 2014 Materials Research Society (MRS) Fellow.
The title of MRS Fellow honors those MRS members who are notable for their distinguished research accomplishments and their outstanding contributions to the advancement of materials research, world-wide. The maximum number of new Fellow appointments each year is limited to 0.2% of the current MRS membership. The distinction is thus highly selective.
The citation will read:
For seminal contributions to the theory of radiation interaction with materials, his development of dislocation dynamics to describe material deformation, and for mentoring a generation of students and young scientists.
This makes Prof. Ghoniem a fellow of four major societies (MRS, ANS, ASME, AAM) pointing to the breadth of his contributions across several engineering disciplines.
